Volunteer Scholars is pleased to announce that Group Memberships are now available for schools, nonprofits, clubs, scout troops, youth programs, faith-based organizations, civic groups, and other community organizations that want to recognize their volunteers with the American Volunteer Service Award (AVSA).

This new option gives approved organizations a simple way to track service hours, verify participation, and recognize volunteers for meaningful contributions to their communities. Groups that already organize, supervise, or document service activities can now manage those records through the Volunteer Scholars portal and support eligible participants as they work toward AVSA recognition.

Group Memberships follow the Volunteer Scholars award year of September 1 through August 31, making them a natural fit for organizations that track service on an annual or academic-year cycle.

Group Memberships are especially helpful for organizations that want an organized system for service records, award eligibility, and year-end recognition. Whether volunteers are assisting with the organization’s community events, supporting its programs, participating in its outreach projects, helping with its operations, or contributing to its qualified service initiatives, Volunteer Scholars provides a structured way to document and celebrate their efforts. Approved groups may select from two membership options for their volunteers.

At its heart, the Group Membership program helps organizations do what they already do best: inspire service. Volunteer Scholars provides the framework to track that service, verify it, and recognize individuals for meaningful contributions.

Organizations interested in participating may visit the Group Memberships page to learn more and begin the approval process.
