Per the PVSA guidelines for Volunteer Scholars, volunteering for your own organization (one that you are a member of) does not count. “A student’s attendance at regular meetings, participation in events, or even a leadership role in a club, sport, activity, or organizations that he/she is a member of is part of being a member of that organization and does not count as volunteer hours. Being captain of the debate team, social chair for Beta Club, serving on student council, captain of the hockey team, etc, are noteworthy examples of student leadership, but are not, however, community service.”
